Platform Services Controller:
In this post we will learn how to deploy external Platform Services Controller for vCenter Server Appliance. The goal here is to deploy the external PSC and then deploy vCSA which will use the external PSC. To proceed with the installation, download the vCenter Server Appliance installation ISO image and mount the ISO image or extract the ISO files and then navigate to vcsa-ui-installer folder, double click win32 folder and click installer.exe to launch the vCenter Server Appliance installer wizard.
Platform Services Controller Installation Step by Step: Install – Stage-1
- Click Install on vCenter Server Appliance Installer window
- Click Next on Stage 1: Deploy Appliance
- Click the check box “I accept terms of the license aggreement” and click Next
- On this page, you have to select Deployment type, the options are:
- Embedded Platform Service Controller: In which the vCenter with an Embedded Platform Services Controller would be deployed.
- External Platform Services Controller:
- Platform Services Controller: Choose Platform Services Controller to deploy an external PSC
- vCenter Server (Requires External Platform Services Controller):
Lets go ahead and look at how to deploy the external Platform Services Controller, Click Platform Services Controller and click Next
- On the Appliance deployment targe, enter the targe details:
- ESXi host or vCenter Server name:
- HTTPS port
- Username:
- Password:
- Click Next
- Click YES, to accept Certificate Warning.
- On the Setup appliance VM page, enter the VM name and root password details:
- VM Name:
- set root password
- Confirm root password
- Click Next
- On the Select datastore, select the storage location for the PSC appliance and click Next
- On the Configure network settings page, enter the Network details
- Network: Management portgroup
- IP version: IPV4 or IPV6
- IP Assignment: static or dynamic
- FQDN: fully qualified domain name
- IP address: Management IP address
- Subnet mask or prefix length: subnetmask
- Click Next
- Click FINISH on Ready to Complete Stage 1
The Platform Services Controller deployment will typically take few minutes (approximately 10-15 mins)
- Click Continue to configure the PSC
Platform Services Controller Installation Step by Step: Install – Stage-2
- In the Install-Stage 2: Setup Platform Services Controller Appliance page, click Next
- On the Appliance configuration page, enter the Time Synchronization mode and SSH access:
- Time Synchronization mode: Synchronize time with ESXi host or Synchronize time with NTP Server
- If Synchronize time with NTP Server is selected enter the NTP Servers (comma-separated list)
- SSH access: Enabled or Disabled
- Time Synchronization mode: Synchronize time with ESXi host or Synchronize time with NTP Server
Click Next
- On the SSO Configuration page, click Create a new SSO domain or Join in existing SSO domain.
Click Create a new SSO domain and enter the Single sign-on server details:
- Single Sign-on domain name: <vsphere.local is the default domain>
- SSO User name:
- Single Sign-on password
- Confirm password:
- Site name:
Click Next
- On the Configuer CEIP, click the check box to Join the VMware’s Customer Experience Improve Program (CEIP) and click Next
- Click OK on the Warning dialogue box
- Click CLOSE on the install-Stage 2: Complete window
This completes the vSphere 6.7 PSC Installation.
